For the past 16 years I have been what is called “a believer.” A believer in Jesus Christ as the Son of the Living God, my personal Savior, and Savior to all who who will believe and call upon His name – that’s me! But only recently has this word “believer” come to mean something deeper and even more specific to me. I guess I’m a slow learner!
You see, I realized that just as painters paint, singers sing, fighters fight, lovers love, teachers teach, and preachers preach, that as a believer, by definition, I am required to BELIEVE. All day, every day, no matter what the circumstance or situation, I am called to faith, to belief. I’ve also only recently realized how greatly my actions are affected by what I believe. To many people that may seem obvious and, therefore, quite silly that it took me over 35 years to realize this, but maybe not. Maybe others haven’t thought about it either. Anyway – if my actions are affected by my beliefs, then WHAT I believe takes on a whole new level of importance. The most important thing I can believe is the TRUTH. I know that truth is ultimately found in God’s word, and I am newly recommited to believing all the truth all the time. This commitment also requires that I stop believing things that aren’t true. I’ll be working on that too – recognizing the lies that have become so comfortable that they begin to masquerade as truth. So, once I settled on a name for a blog, I decided there was nothing to stop me from recording some of my thoughts, prayers, studies, and discoveries about being a believer in TRUTH.
I pray that this will be an encouragement to anyone who happens upon it – an encouragement to greater faith and belief in all the promises that God has for us. When Jesus says to us “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth,“ it is my prayer that the first thing we would say is “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” (Mark 9:23-24)

Laura,
I just had to tell you, my boys think you look just like Rachael Ray!
Hi Laura,
What a beautiful website you have, I have enjoyed reading it and it is so wonderful to see such a strong belief in God proclaimed! Thank you for your comments on my blog.. I just found I was lost when I went to find others like me my age facing this. I thought I needed to write to give others an idea what to expect and that it was not an immediate death sentence but a time to reflect on what you have and make it meaningful. I am so blessed and my family has been wonderful.
If you are on FB… lets be friends and stay in touch. I have another good friend who has started a prayer group that you may be interested in, he is actively praying and sending out request.
Now you are Mercy’s mom? Danielle’s fiend? She is such a precious girl, Mercy. We think the world of her and Danielle has a wonderful friend!
Thank you so much for your prayers, my girls need good friends like your girls.
God Bless you and have a wonderful day with your family!
Melody
